On September 12th the Company held its Autumn Lunch, this year at the beautiful Tallow Chandlers’ Hall in Dowgate Hill, by kind permission of the Master, Anthony Green. Guests were welcomed by the Master, Diana Berry, and Past Masters Robert Pitcher and Jonathan Young, and Upper Warden Roddy Richmond-Watson, for a champagne reception in the courtyard in glorious Indian summer sunshine, before lunch at which the guest speaker was Professor Andrew Roberts.
The Autumn lunch has, by tradition, picked a centenary theme, this year focusing on Winston Churchill in 1919. No better person to speak on this subject than Professor Roberts, author of ‘Churchill, Walking With Destiny’,
A very fascinating talk by Andrew Roberts which, despite the hardback being long sold out, still led to queues to buy a signed copy of the paperback of ‘Walking with Destiny’.
