The annual Nomination Service took place at St Vedast Church on 7 November and was well attended by Liverymen and their guests. A retiring collection raised over £500 which was donated to the church.
The Nomination Dinner took place afterwards at Goldsmiths’ Hall which was filled to capacity. During dinner, the Master, Rob Pitcher, presented the Gunmakers’ Award for Excellence in Gunmaking to Mr Ian Sweetman of James Purdey & Sons. He also presented the Gunmakers’ Armourer Award to Corporal Joshua Knight of 7 Aviation Support Battalion.
The Master Elect, JonathanYoung, then made the customary declaration and was installed as Master, after being handed the keys of the Proof House by the outgoing Master.
The principal guest was Simon Hart MP, formerly Chief Executive of the Countryside Alliance, who gave an entertaining speech about his experiences at Westminster. Other Company guests included The Rev’d Paul Kennedy, Rector of St Vedast, and Colonel Ed Heal OBE, Commandant of the Defence School of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering.
